5 Cute Ways to Say “I Love You” to Your Husband

Telling your husband you love him is great—but finding cute ways to say I love you is even better! One cute way is to say I love you in a different language. (We’ll share how to say I love you in five different languages a bit later.)

Another way to spice up your expressions of love is to whisper it in a crowded setting at an unexpected time. What else you whisper to your husband at that moment, we’ll leave to you.

In my own marriage, telling Mark I love you goes over big if I combine it with a favorite meal I’ve made for him or if I add it to a compliment. You look great tonight, honey. I sure do love you.

Here are more cute ways to say I love you to your husband.

1. Parlez-vous?

Say I love you in French, Spanish, German, Chinese, and Italian.

  • French: Je t’aime (jeh-tem)
  • Spanish: Te amo (tay-ahmo)
  • German: Ich liebe dich (isch-leeba-disch)
  • Chinese: Wǒ ài nǐ (Wǒ pīnyīn ài nǐ)
  • Italian: Ti amo (tee-ahmo)

2. Write it.

You don’t need paper, a pen, or a laptop for this kind of writing. What you do need is close proximity to your husband. When you’re out together, take his hand and “write” I love you on his palm. When you’re in bed, “write” I love you on his back.

3. Embellish it.

Go beyond I love you by also saying something you really love about your husband or something you’re thankful for about him. These 99 things to be thankful for about your husband will give you some ideas.

4. Mime it.

A friend of mine lost her voice one night but still wanted to tell her husband she loved him before she went to bed. She used that old standby: She pointed to herself, then hugged herself, and then pointed to him. He loved it. You can also tell your husband that your silent I love you will be three squeezes when you’re holding his hand.

5. Mean it.

Wait for a time when you can give your husband your full attention. Stand very close to him and gently hold his face with your hands. Look into his eyes, and tell him you love him.

How often do you tell your husband you love him?

ASK YOUR CHILD...

Tell your child you love them in a different language: French: Je t’aime, Spanish: Te quiero, German: Ich liebe dich, Chinese: Wǒ ài nǐ, Italian: Ti amo
