No two couples are the same, but most hit a roadblock occasionally thanks to miscommunication. In this episode, Abby, Susan, Megan, and Chloe talk about the most significant communication hurdles they’ve had to overcome in their marriages and their favorite tools for better marriage communication.

What communication issue have you had to work through in your marriage? For Abby, it’s giving the benefit of the doubt; Megan said she has to check her expectations; Susan is a big-picture thinker, and she’s married to a man to whom every word is important; and Chloe says she and her husband see situations so differently, and that often leads to conflict. In each relationship, and in yours too, communication issues often carry on at a certain level of tension until they can’t carry on anymore. So we also talk about the sign that it’s time to talk. If you’re slamming doors or going to bed angry or frustrated, it’s time!

In this episode, we’re going to give you a few takeaways you can start using in your marriage today. We’ll discuss ideas like asking, “Is this a relationship issue or a roommate issue?” And we’ll explain the Feedback Wheel. It’s a communication tool you can use the next time you’re tempted to get into an argument with your husband in your head. You know—those fights he doesn’t even know you’re in. Yeah, we’ve all been there.

One of the best tools for better marriage communication is mindset. So we wrap up the chat with the little things we try to keep in mind every day—having a sense of humor, clearly stating what we need, remembering we’re on the same team—that help us be kinder and more loving in the way we communicate with our husbands.
