Lauren Dungy
Lauren Dungy has been surrounded by children for most of her adult life. As a school teacher, her days were filled with classrooms full of students. Now her days, and nights, are filled with caring for her own children who range in age from infant to early twenties. Lauren and her husband Tony Dungy are the parents of daughters Tiara and Jade, and sons James, Eric, Jordan, Justin and Jason.
In her “free” time, Lauren loves volunteering for iMOM. “I hope to be a voice of encouragement for moms as they build relationships and guide their children.”
Personal: Married to Tony Dungy for almost 30 years
Favorite family night activities: Board games and Bike riding
Ideal date night: Going to the movies followed by dinner at a quiet restaurant
Most effective discipline measure: Timeout followed by talking to my children with the Bible as a guide
The best advice my mother ever gave me: Don’t permit other people to control your mind.
The greatest lesson I’ve learned as a mother: We are called to love and nurture our children, but at the appropriate age “release” them and allow them to make their own decisions.
Lauren’s advice for moms: “It’s extremely important to develop relationships with other Christian mothers and wives, because they too are grounded in God’s word, and their fellowship can support and encourage you.”
