Boy Finds Mom After Decades

It’s every mother’s worst nightmare: her child disappears into thin air.  Here’s the true story of one such case…

Two brothers are at an Indian train station.  They become separated in the crowd.  The younger brother, Saroo, doesn’t know how to explain where he lives or what his last name is.  He is put in an orphanage and adopted by an Australian couple.  His mother mourns.  Twenty-five years pass. Saroo grows up.  But love for mother is strong.  So strong that the boy, now a man, uses modern technology to jog his memory.  He Googles what he thinks is the place where he is from.  Soon he has narrowed down his search to a country, a town, a street.  He goes there and asks if anyone remembers…they do.  They return with a woman.  His mother.  Her son.

The above story makes most moms think, I cannot let this happen to my child!!!  To help put your mind at ease on that point, we have a new What I Need to Know to Be Safe printable and 7 Ways to Keep Your Child Safe When Traveling.

More about the boy who found his mother using Google.

Wow that story is amazing and brought tears to my eyes on so many levels… that a mother lost her son, that he had to live on the streets, that he found a loving family to take care of him, that he miraculously found his mother again, and that he found out his brother had died such a tragic death which most likely was the reason he never came back for him. I just pray that no mother and child ever have to go through this, though unfortunately such incidents probably do still happen across the world. I will definitely be keeping and extra close eye on my children because of this story. Thanks!
