The World’s Most Powerful Mom

Put yourself in these shoes: you’re pregnant with your first child, and you’re running one of the world’s most successful companies.  Then, 6 months into your pregnancy, you quit your job to go run another of the world’s biggest companies.  That’s the real life story of Marissa Meyer, the former CEO of Google, and now the CEO of Yahoo.

How does she do it?  In her words, she “ruthlessly prioritizes.”  What are her priorities?   “God, family, and Yahoo.”

Every mom, no matter her situation, needs to ruthlessly prioritize to parent her best..

iMom- do some research before you idolize this woman. She just put the nail in the coffin of the working moms at Yahoo by forbidding them to work from home. Meanwhile, she turned the office next to hers into a nursery so she could bring her child to work. She’s a hypocrite and as such, I don’t believe a word she says about her faith. As a working mom, it’s hard enough to compete with men who “don’t have to take off with a sick kid” all the while pointing to this woman, who isn’t walking the walk of the working moms she pretends to represent,

I’m so disappointed in iMom, I may drop my daily email.

Thank you Mom of Twins for your post!!!!! I was just thinking the same thing! Working moms everywhere already feel pressure to return to work from maternity leave instead of seeing the benefits of being home to raise their babies in the most important year of their life. 12 weeks is not substantial enough as it is, but thats how our nation views motherhood — not important! — but business and career trump parenthood (and marriage, too). This woman only took a few weeks off for maternity leave. She’s setting a terrible standard for women, now other major employers will say “we’ll if Yahoos CEO can take 4 weeks, so can you”… sorry working moms, work is more important than your family. iMom — If you’re going to write an article on supermoms, write it about moms who parent special needs kids, or moms who decide to stay home and can gracefully juggle home, kids, husbands, errands, household, etc (cause I tell you what — it’s NOT easy!!), or if it’s about working moms find a better person to put on that pedestal. Marissa Meyers can afford multiple nannies, house cleaners, and gardeners… most of us cannot! No wonder going back to work was so easy for her! She’s missing out on the most rewarding and important job of her life!!
