Charisse Nixon , PhD
Charisse Nixon, PhD, is an expert in children’s emotional and social development. Dr. Nixon is an assistant professor of developmental psychology at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College. Her research on aggression recently culminated in the publication of her book, Girl Wars: 12 Strategies That Will End Female Bullying.
Dr. Nixon is the Director of Research and Evaluation for The Ophelia Project – an organization dedicated to increasing social and emotional support for adolescent girls.
“I want all children to use their emotions in a positive way,” she says. “It’s so important for them to learn not to tolerate or commit aggressive acts.”
Dr. Nixon has a double major undergraduate degree in psychology and biology, a master’s degree in guidance and counseling and received her doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology from West Virginia University.
