Three Tips of Highly Productive People
Jobs often take longer than I think they will. At the end of the day, although I'm exhausted, I realize that I haven't accomplished the most important things I needed to do – not to mention I haven't done anything for myself.
1. Get highest-priority tasks done first. This is the best assurance that important things won't be crowded out by urgent things and other projects.
2. Schedule backward. Pinpoint the time something needs to be accomplished and work backward to determine how much time you'll need to make it happen. Always add extra time for glitches and interruptions.
3. Don't over schedule your days with back-to-back tasks and commitments. Build in buffer time between activities, and take time for some things that refresh you. Just taking 10 minutes to get a little further in a novel, walk around the block, or close your eyes and listen to your favorite music can energize you for the next task.
