How are you feeling right now? Are you on top of things, handling the stress, letting your worries roll off your back? For many of us, the stress and worry make us feel like we’re going to break. Or worse, we already have broken. Our breaking shows up as yelling at our kids, being overly critical with ourselves, or shutting down emotionally.

The right word at the right time can help us when we need comfort in our sufferingHere are 15 scripture verses with words that have the power to give that comfort. If you’re not a “Bible person,” don’t worry. These verses of comfort are relatable and easy to understand. Try scribbling one on a sticky note or writing one of the top of tomorrow’s to-do list.

2 Corinthians 1:3

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Matthew 5:4

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

Psalm 119:50

John 16:20

Very truly I tell you, you will weep and mourn while the world rejoices. You will grieve, but your grief will turn to joy.
