The 4 Kinds of Wives: The All About the Kids Wife
There are as many different types of wives as there are marriages in the world, but lots of women fall into one of these broad categories. See if any of these descriptions remind you of someone—like you, maybe.
The “All About the Kids” Wife
The Description: Her kids never lack anything—her time, her attention, her affection. Meanwhile, her husband takes the crumbs that are leftover. He waits for bedtime in the hope that he can have a little of what his wife has lavished on the children all day, only to find her “too tired” for anything else. She needs him to do two things. First, keep bringing home the bacon so that she can raise her little darlings as she sees fit. And second, stay out of the way. After all, there’s serious mothering going on here, and she can’t be distracted for a second.
The Solution: This wife has, as they say, gotten the wagon in front of the horse. She sees the parent-child relationship as the primary one in the family. The marriage relationship is seen simply as a means to that end. In reality, children are the fruit of a healthy and thriving marriage, but those parent-child relationships remain secondary to the marriage relationship. Why? Because children thrive in a home grounded by a loving marriage.
