Clint Eastwood’s big screen version of the Tony Award-winning musical tells the story of the four young men from the wrong side of the tracks in New Jersey who came together to form the iconic `60s rock group The Four Seasons. Their trials and triumphs are accompanied by the hit songs that influenced a generation, and are now being embraced by a new generation of fans through the stage musical.
Many of us baby boomers remember listening to the radio and dancing to the sounds of Frankie Vali and the 4 Seasons. This film directed by Clint Eastwood is based on their story. It shows how three boys brought up in a Jersey neighborhood started out on the wrong direction in life and with a little encouragement plus the addition of a new band member, songwriter, became the sensation that was enjoyed by many.
Influenced by the broadway stage hit, the movie shows the rollercoaster lives of the boys as they hit the road and on their way to stardom. The history of the group from 1951 to 1990 when they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame is protrayed on the big screen. Each man has his narrative of the events that happened that brings the viewer in.
Although it is a very entertaining film, we unfortunately can not award it with the Dove Approval due to content.
