Looking for any way to get away from the life and town he was born into, Tripp (Lucas Till), a high school senior, builds a Monster Truck from bits and pieces of scrapped cars. After an accident at a nearby oil-drilling site displaces a strange and subterranean creature with a taste and a talent for speed, Tripp may have just found the key to getting out of town and a most unlikely friend.
Tripp is a young man who just wants to leave his small town. He works in a junkyard for Mr. Weathers. He has been trying to fix up an old truck, but it has been slow work until a smashed up truck comes into the yard with a great engine he thinks he can fix. What he did not know is that something bigger—something beyond his imagination—came with the truck.
The oil company nearby is drilling for oil, but when they decide to drill deeper, an explosion happens and something from deep down under is let out. That’s when the fun begins. When they try to track whatever it is—now on the loose—it leads them to meet Tripp. But Tripp is a little leery of these guys, so the chase is on with a little help from his new friend Creech.
“Monster Trucks” is a funny movie about the unexpected that the entire family will enjoy, although very young children may be frightened with the monster at first. It is a charming lesson in friendship with a touch of environmental protection of the unknown thrown in. We are proud to award the Dove Family-Approved Seal for all ages to this very imaginative movie.
