Dove Review:

The League of Legend Keepers: Shadows introduces us to the world-traveling Carson family as they arrive in Los Angeles. The father, Edward Carson (Richard Tyson), is on a breakthrough architectural mission to unearth the last of five all-powerful magic pendants—but so is the gravest force of evil, Ohanzee.

Ironically, Edward finds the fifth pendant in the backyard of the school that his daughter, Sophie (Isabella Blake-Thomas), attends. Shadows, charged by Ohanzee, begin to stalk the school grounds and threaten to overtake the entire world. Will the Carsons keep the shadows at bay and protect the fifth pendant from Ohanzee and his evil plans?

Producers bill this film as a “horror film for children”, but some of the location gaffes are scariest, and unfortunately, the genre is a continuity issue: an Indiana Jones/family/horror nebulous concoction. However, the film showcases expositional writing.

Outside of minor horror images, there are no offensive elements, although some families may take exception to the “magic” elements. Regardless, the film’s overall theme resonates true: good overcomes evil, granting this film the Dove-approved seal for Ages 12+.

The Dove Take:

The League of the Legend Keepers: Shadows is a family adventure that adds mediocre elements of horror. Since it is targeted for kids, Dove warns that it’s not for families with small children.
