Synopsis: When Blitzen announces his retirement on December 21st, a miniature horse has 3 days to fulfill his lifelong dream of earning a spot on Santa's team at the North Pole try-outs.The Dove Review Naturally, we're talking here about a secular Christmas story, that invents some new dimension to the Santa, reindeer folklore. We meet Hazel and Elliot as the rebellious mis-fits of the Wittick farm in North Dakota, on which the full cadre of animals operates under the leadership of a couple of inspired horses - one who channels William Wallace and a draft horse who might prefer to be leading a Navy Seal Team. In middle-school context, the reindeer are the jocks and the goats are the lovable nerds. But they’re all encouraged to dream big, and Elliot, an ambitious miniature pony, has big dreams of becoming one of Santa’s Reindeer. Elliot The Littlest Reindeer has delightful storylines, and the characters do a great job establishing a smart, fun and inventive tale. The music is rich and the animation is wonderfully engaging. We have a villain who wants to slaughter sweet animals, power-hungry elf, a reporter who digs for an expose behind the North Pole's ice facade, and heroes galore! The competitions and controversy builds as misunderstandings compound and Santa must declare No More Reindeer! But that's just when fighting for clarity and truth bring triumph - also giving us excellent qualities to chat about with the kids. Your whole family will enjoy getting to know this delightful and artfully crafted holiday tale.
