5 Fun Activities for In-Town Grandparents
1. Make a list.
Before your kids see Grandma, let them brainstorm about how they want to spend their time. They might come up with things you've never even thought of.
2. On the town.
It's fun to go places with Grandma and Grandpa!
- Nature Trails
- Farmer's Markets
- Garage Sales
The Fire Department
Pack some fun into your child's overnight bag. Send over a bag of microwavable popcorn, a movie or two and a couple of books for Grandma to read. You can also pack a craft or Lego type activity. If you really want your kids to bond with their grandparents, don't send their video games or gadgets. Instead, pack a disposable camera and let your kids document their visit. After you have the film developed, let your child put the photos in an album for Grandma to enjoy.
4. Family Tree.
Let your kids learn about their family history by filling out this family tree with Grandma and Grandpa. If you can come up with a recipe to go with your ethnic background, have that ready, along with the ingredients, when Grandma comes to spend the day.
5. Time travel.
Were Grandma and Grandpa ever little? What was life like for kids way back then? Have your kids ask their grandparents these questions.
