Drinking and Drugs: Drinking and Drug Resources for Parents


Drinking and Drugs Discuss It- Younger and younger children are accessing drugs and alcohol.  It is never too early to equip your child with the tools needed to resist temptation and peer pressure.

A Guide to Teen Drug Slang- Just as teen slang evolves for each generation, so does drug slang. And because it's difficult for most parents to keep up, they can overhear a complete conversation about drugs without even realizing it. Since many of these drug slang words mimic innocent terms, it's easy for kids to hide their true conversations from adults. This list will give you a brief overview of the most common drug slang terms that teens use.

Underage Alcohol Use- Although the use of alcohol is illegal for persons under the age of 21, its use constitutes one of the principal public health issues for persons aged 12 to 20 and reduction of underage alcohol use is a top public health priority of the Federal Government. Data from the 2006 and 2007 National Surveys on Drug Use and Health (NSDUHs) indicate that even with efforts to reduce availability, underage drinkers are still able to obtain alcohol.
