Extracurricular Time Worksheet

Is your family busy? Are there evenings when you eat dinner on the go? Rest assured, all families are different, and what works for some might not work for others. Some families love to stay busy with after school activities while other families prefer to move at a slower pace. You know your kids best and what works well for them.

But if you’ve started to feel run down and your kids look worn out from doing too much, it might help to sit down with our extracurricular time worksheet. Money is one thing. But are your kids’ extra curricular activities costing your family in other ways too? Maybe it’s time to reexamine how much everyone’s doing.

Print out an extracurricular time worksheet for each child, then spend a few minutes writing in the activities and tallying up the minutes. You may have to add lines on some days if there are multiple activities for the same child. If this is true, know that you’re not the only one. These days, kids are busier than ever. Also, keep in mind, it may be for just a season. In a few weeks, the schedule could ease up. But is the current schedule right for your family? It might be eye-opening to see everything in writing.

When you’re done, reflect on the other things you’d like your kids to do on a typical evening. Is there enough time built in for homework or for downtime? Are the kids able to play or read before going to bed? Is your family able to fit in a family dinner at the table a few times per week? Our extracurricular time worksheet can help you figure out what works best for your family.
