Fun Activities for Families with Kids Under 10

As a child, one of my favorite memories was water sliding with my family. I can still remember taking turns running up the hill to the top of the homemade water slide in our backyard. We would push each other down the slick plastic and squeal from the splash of the cold water. The best part was riding down the slope with one of my siblings, holding onto each other in delight. I remember the giggles, the fun, and the bond these kids activities created in my family. I hope to create memories like this with my children with these 10 fun activities for families with kids under 10.

1. Bowling

Bowling is a fun family friendly activity. With bumper bowling, even little ones can participate in the sport.

2. Make Personal Pizzas

Have some fun making personal pizzas at home, with a few simple ingredients. You’ll be amazed how kids love to be a part of making their favorite meal.

3. Outdoor Adventure

Go on an outdoor adventure. No matter the season, families can have fun walking on a trail, hiking, or finding a secret treasure with geocaching.

4. Build Something Together

Spend time building something together as a family. With materials as simple as a cardboard box, you can use your imaginations to transform the most basic materials into a spaceship or airplane. Depending on the season, you may also enjoy building a snowman or a sandcastle.

5. Movie Night

Pick a family friendly movie and cuddle up with some blankets and popcorn.

6. Field Trip

Find a local museum, aquarium, zoo, or historical site to take a family field trip.

7. Play a Game

Indoor or outdoor, playing games as a family can be such fun. Depending on the age of your children, you can choose from something like tag, hide-and-seek, basketball, or a board game.

8. Create an Indoor Obstacle Course

Use items from around the house to create an indoor obstacle course. Jump over pillows. Race from a rug to a chair. You could even use a flashlight as a baton to pass from one person to the next.

9. Make a fort

Get creative making a fort with blankets, pillows, and whatever else you have around the house.

10. Have a No Rules Night.

Pick a night where the kids can have “no rules.” This will excite them and their imagination will run wild.
