Keep the Romance Alive

Do you ever feel more like a coworker than a romantic partner with your husband? Oof. If that question felt like a punch to the gut, this episode is for you. Susan, who’s been married for more than 30 years, shares the story of when her husband said they needed more romance. Keeping romance in your marriage isn’t easy. You become content, and contentment can lead to apathy or laziness. And then, of course, there are kids. That was the case with Susan. After pouring her creativity into five kids all day long, she had none left for her husband, and creativity was the way she most frequently (and naturally) expressed romantic love to him.

How do you bring romance into your marriage? How about your husband? We talked about what we find romantic and what our husbands would pick from our list of 41 Ways to Romance Your Husband. One thing we hope you take away from this episode is that not everyone finds the same things romantic, so it’s important to ask your husband what you do that makes him feel loved and to tell him what he does for you. That way you both can do those things more often.

Sex and intimacy are key in a marriage, so it’s worth spending time trying to nurture that part of your relationship. We should warn you—there are definitely some blush-worthy moments in today’s conversation, especially for Megan. Who wants to talk about sex with Mom in the room? We wrap up the episode with a challenge for ourselves and you. Take iMOM’s 30-Day Marriage Challenge. Email us at [email protected] after your 30 days are up to tell us how it went. We’re going to do it, too!
