The Mom I Am

What’s your mom personality? Do you feel pressure to be a fun mom? If being the fun mom doesn’t come naturally to you, then Chloe’s story will make you feel less alone. She shares how as a not-yet-parent, she looks back on how her mom and dad embraced their individual personalities to connect with her and her brothers. Her mom was more of the classic fun mom—spontaneous, silly, and adventurous. But her dad was a planner. He liked spending time with her, but his version of fun was organized. As a planner, Chloe finds comfort in knowing she won’t have to compromise her personality to connect with her future children.

The same goes for you. Whatever kind of mom you are, there’s a reason you have been given your children and they’ve been given a mom like you. Abby, Chloe, Susan, and Megan talk about their results from the Mom I Am personality test and how they see those characteristics play out in parenting. You can take the test too, and start to embrace your strengths instead of looking at where you think you fall short. And here’s a challenge! Pass the Mom I Am test on to your friends and have them take it. Like Susan, you might find that you are friends with women who make up the four different mom personalities.

Something special happens when you stop trying to be the kind of mom you think you are supposed to be and start embracing the gifts and qualities you’ve been given. You’ll start to notice parenting feels more natural when you’re not trying to parent like your friend or favorite Instagram influencer does.
