Nature Scavenger Hunt

There’s no shortage of activities for kids that use bells, whistles, lights, and buzzing. Sometimes our kids need to unplug from the high-tech gadgets and get outside to experience fun in nature. Our Nature Scavenger Hunt is a great way to do that.

Nature is fascinating but easily overlooked. Our Nature Scavenger Hunt is a fun way to teach your child how to perceive life. You can discover it in your backyard, a park, a pond, or a beach. There are hidden treasures everywhere, you just have to look around.

The way this activity uses touch, see, and smell can be a useful tool for kids who have trouble focusing. It requires them to zoom in on one sense which will naturally help calm them down. And for little ones who are learning their colors or words like “hard,” “soft” or “wirey” this Nature Scavenger Hunt will teach them lessons a classroom can’t.

So print the list, pack a picnic, and walk around with your child. Take your time. If she doesn’t stay focused on the task, follow her lead. You never know what you might find that’s not on the list. Don’t worry about dirty hands. A little dirt is good for kids! For bigger kids, give them a pencil and ten minutes to find as much as they can. If you’re brave you can let the kids take your phone and snap photos. You might get some great nature shots. Time spent outdoors is always fruitful. Fresh air and sunshine work wonders!

If you love scavenger hunts, we have tons more. Print them for different holidays or for a special occasion like a birthday or back-to-school. They’re all free to print and a great way to bring your family together and get the kids moving!
