21 Things That Don’t Determine the Value of a Woman

“Former Hot Celebrities Who Are Now Ugly.” That’s the article that popped up as I was scrolling through my newsfeed on Facebook recently. I was frustrated by the message the article was sending about the value of a woman and incredibly sad for those celebrities. I also felt grateful that I’m not one. I’m hard enough on myself. I don’t need people catching me in bad positions, pointing out my wrinkles, or posting a photo of me with a rude caption.

Sometimes it takes us feeling a bit of disgust over what we overhear to realize we are just as rude to ourselves. That article made me ask why I’m so mean to myself about how I look. Do I not know the value of a woman? Because deep down inside, I valued myself based on how I looked and what I did instead of by taking joy in how I was created and what my mind and body are capable of. It’s time to be free of that way of thinking. If you are ready to be free from it as well, then join me in believing these 21 things that don’t determine the value of a woman.

1. The Size of Her Clothing

2. The Fullness of Her Lips

3. The Number on the Scale

4. The Hair on Her Head

5. The Size of Her Breasts

6. The Smoothness of Her Skin

7. The Clothing She Wears

8. The Fullness of Her Schedule

9. The Behavior of Her Kids

10. The Design and Cleanliness of Her Home

11. Her Ability to Have Children

12. Her Kids’ Achievements

13. The Success of Her Marriage

14. The Parties She Throws

15. Her Ability to Multitask

16. The Number of Friends She Has

17. The Way She Decorates for the Holidays

18. The Killer Workout She Did Before 5 a.m.

19. The Meals She Makes

20. The Promotion She Got

21. The Book Club or Bible Study She Leads

Chances are, you want to feel better about a couple of these things. Maybe you have room to grow. That’s great! Aim for growth, but in the meantime, remember that your value as a woman and a human is independent of any of these 21 things. How you feel about yourself might fluctuate, but who you are and what you’re worth will never change.

Instead of valuing yourself based on how you look, take joy in how you were created! Click To Tweet
