The sun is shining and the birds are chirping. Your kiddo is staring out the classroom window, wishing it were summer break already. It’s hard for kids to hang on when the school year is winding down, but there are still grades to be earned and homework to be done. In this episode, Susan shares a story about one of her kids being bound and determined not to have to be in school after returning from spring break. If you’re wondering how to finish the year strong with your kids, we have some great ideas.

We start by asking if year-end burnout is a bad thing. We don’t want our kids to brush off school in the last month, but it can indicate that a schedule is too packed. When the year starts, it’s wise to look ahead and consider if your child will be able to maintain the motivation and energy level required for his class load and extracurricular activities.

How did you do in the last month of school? Did the parties keep you motivated to go every day? Megan said she went for the fun. Susan and Abby were determined to earn good grades. But Chloe admits she struggled to stay focused. She wanted out! The group discusses ways to keep your kids motivated and which would’ve worked for them. When buying a new school supply comes up, and Abby mentions Trapper Keepers, the ladies go deep down a rabbit hole.

When they emerge from the hole, the conversation heads into how moms can stay focused at the end of the school year. Our attitudes affect our kids, so little tricks and strategies can make a big difference.
